1989 Company Founded
The company was founded by Campbell Grant as Bambi Engineering Ltd in 1989 on the Isle of Skye, providing computer control systems for the oil industry. The company’s remote location led to the development of expertise in electronic communications, file exchange, bulletin boards and early email systems as well as control systems.
1995 Gael.net Ltd
With the advent of the World Wide Web, the business began to focus on internet, e-business and multimedia solutions and changed its name to Gael.net Ltd to reflect this change. Gael.net earned a reputation for innovative solutions and excellence in customer service, producing numerous award winning websites for commercial and public sector customers.
2000 Sitekit CMS v1
Software guru Chris Eckl joined the team with a vision to build a dynamic website management system to enable non-technical users to directly manage their web site via a simple browser interface. Sitekit CMS v1 was launched at CeBIT in Hanover and was an immediate hit with customers.
2003 Sitekit Solutions Ltd
Such was the success of Sitekit CMS, the company was renamed Sitekit Solutions Ltd to reflect the company’s total focus on Content Management and with a clear goal - to become the leading provider of web content management tools. Sitekit CMS v3 is launched with a totally new architecture and user interface.
2006 Sitekit CMS v7
November 2006 saw the launch of Sitekit CMS v7 which was designed to lead the CMS market through advances in natural search engine optimisation, software usability, website standards compliance and multilingual control in more than forty languages. Sitekit CMS v7 was launched and immediately won the International Information Industry Award for Innovation in Content Management. The company was a Deloitte Fast 50 Winner for the fifth year running and a sales office was opened in Oxfordshire to service the wider UK market.
2008 Sitekit Partner Program
Sitekit launch the Partner Program to complement the technical functionality of Sitekit CMS with the best new media creative agencies in the UK.
The program is developed to deliver maximum value to customers through design, content and bespoke integration. Sitekit is awarded Microsoft Gold Partner status.
2009 Launch of Sitekit Labs
The R&D division Sitekit Labs was launched to research intelligent web applications.
The Labs was opened by Prof. Mike Grandinetti of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) who became a Sitekit Labs fellow.
2010 Sitekit CMS v9
Sitekit CMS v9 is launched with a new .Net based architecture that provides a state of the art drag and drop interface that greatly simplifies web site management.
By 2010, Sitekit had become the market leader for ehealth portals with over 40 installations for NHS organisations and Sitekit Health Ltd is formed to specialise in this market.
