University Hospital Birmingham Foundation Trust
Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, the second largest hospital in the UK and UHB’s state of the art flagship, needed a new website to effectively promote the high quality of service, level of innovation and avant-garde design.
Challenge
UHB required a website that set a design and feature-rich standard that would act as a benchmark for other NHS organisations to meet; the website also had to be highly usable and accessible. Additionally, the website needed to easily integrate with UHB’s social media channels as part of the Trust’s social media strategy.
Solution
UHB chose to build the new website on Sitekit’s content management system software, Sitekit CMS. Sitekit, working with accredited partner ‘Social Media Partnership’, who designed the site, developed a website that offered innovative design, supported the dynamic content the Trust required and provided the necessary accessibility standards.
“The launch of the site went really well, and from what we’ve seen so far it seems that Sitekit CMS was certainly the right choice.”
James Bentley
Web Manager, University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust
Results
The new website was delivered on time and on budget – the new website allows staff to effectively promote the hospital’s services to visitors; on-page hyperlinks make it easy for users to access the hospital’s Facebook and Twitter pages, as well as a dedicated YouTube channel, offering information from key health professionals within UHB.
Sitekit CMS allows the Trust’s own web team to easily manage and update these features as required.
Website traffic has reached a new high, averaging over 40,000 visits a month – a testament to the importance of usability, accessibility and clean design in effective website promotion.
