The aim of the new annual web science academic conference is to bring computer scientists and social scientists together to explore the development of the web across different areas of everyday life and technological development.
Sitekit attended the conference to present their latest web research project based on ‘Common Sense Computing’ which involves the development of next-generation Semantic Web Applications.
The 2009 conference kicked off with a talk by Sir Tim Berners- Lee, director of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and credited with inventing the World Wide Web in1990. His talk was focussed on the interdisciplinary field of Web Science and the need for making this a a primary field of study.
The conference was a huge inspiration to the work the Sitekit R&D team have been doing over the past two years. Said Erik, “The conference has helped us to view Web Science from a completely different point of view and will help with our current and future research projects”.
