East Cheshire NHS Trust has recently launched its brand new website, www.eastcheshire.nhs.uk which is powered by Sitekit’s content management system, Sitekit CMS. The new website has been developed with input from patients and staff to make it more user friendly, easier to navigate and fully informative to meet the health information needs of the people of East Cheshire.

Patients can now use the website to find out about the trust, its consultants, all of the services available, and important information about coming into East Cheshire’s hospitals when making decisions about treatment.

Sitekit CMS enables the website to support a dedicated search engine for ‘local services’, making it easier for people to find NHS hospitals, opticians, dentists within their area and identify where to go to get the right treatment.

The website provides information about employment opportunities in the NHS, and to help the trust engage local residents, there is information about the latest service developments and public consultations being carried out to help improve local health,and areas which invite people to get involved in the work of East Cheshire NHS Trust. The new site also features health news and events, such as thevery popular ‘Health matters’ free public lectures.

Amongst its accessibility features is ‘Browsealoud’, a text-to-speech service that is designed to improve access to the website for people who find it hard to read. This includes people with visual impairment, dyslexia or those who do not speak English as their first language.

John Wilbraham, Chief Executive for East Cheshire NHS Trust said: “We are delighted that the new trust website is now so accessible to so many patients. Our old site was out of date and difficult to manage and did not meet the demands of health conscious and well informed patients in our local community.

The new site delivers the simplest access possible to the health information needed when patients are deciding where to receive healthcare. Our aim is to empower patients to select East Cheshire NHS Trust as the hospital they would choose to be treated at".
