Open Clinical Connector FHIR Middleware

HomeOur workOpen Clinical Connector FHIR Middleware

Sitekit’s flexible Open Clinical Connector

To convert health data into FHIR format designed to be used as a component in a multi-supplier ecosystem.

Sitekit developed the Open Clinical Connector (OCC) to enable health and care organisations to extract clinical data from source systems and transform it into FHIR format for posting to an inbound FHIR API.

OCC middleware facilitates a separation of concerns between originating systems, data transformation and access management services, and destination systems.

OCC deals with several integration concerns, including authentication and authorisation, validation, transformation, and inbound / outbound message routing.

BENEFITS

Integration with events management systems

OCC can be deployed to support integration with event management systems (national and local), for subscription routing and for transferring messages securely between the Internet / HSCN boundary.

Bridge between identity protocols

OCC can be used to bridge between identity protocols and to bridge between Open ID Connect grants and for claims transformation.

Bridge interface standards

OCC can be used to bridge alternative interface standards, such as CSV, HL7 v3, CTV3 and national codes into HL7 FHIR and SNOMED CT.

OUR WORK

Collaboration in design

Sitekit work in collaboration with system suppliers and customers within the current ecosystem to create an architecture that will facilitate the flow of data from the originating system to the receiving system.

Deploy and test

The OCC is generally deployed within the originating services HSCN boundary by Sitekit. Sitekit support the customer through the OCC setup process and facilitate end to end testing once setup is complete.
CASE STUDY
Provide wanted to give parents access to child health data from the CHIS system beyond that currently available through NEMS.
Sitekit used the Open Clinical Connector to convert data into FHIR format for display in eRedbook.
