Sitekit CMS - Total control over user rights, management and access
Sitekit CMS contains a powerful security system based on user rights, both at an individual and group level. Access to the secure administration system is via a password and the site administrator can create “users” who have access to certain or all parts of the website and/or have limited rights of action on specific content. ‘User groups’ containing a number of individual users can be created and given specific rights, allowing all members of that group to, for example, work on a specific section of a website but no other.
This can be useful when utilising the services of external consultants, such as copywriters, who can access only the news section of a site.
Assigning User Rights and Permissions
User rights can be narrowed down so that only a single page can be accessed or can be extended to allow adding, editing or deletion of pages on one or more separate branches of the site. Sitekit CMS logs the actions conducted within the entire site, so who edited what and when is recorded and made available to those with appropriate rights. Branches of the public sites can also be password protected thereby restricting access to privileged areas, areas under review or allowing you to create private areas for members, clients or partners.
- Restricted differential access to admin – all aspects of the administration systems can be restricted, allowed for specific users or groups allowing fine-tuning and tracking of your admin users.
- Workflow models – administration access supports a workflow model of editing and approval. There are more details of this in the functional content section.
- Simplified admin systems – Options that users have no rights to can be hidden, reducing the complexity of the interface for those users.
- Extranet systems - the security model extends to the creation of password-protected areas of the publicly accessible parts of the site to create intranet and extranet areas on your site. Extranet access can be restricted / identified by IP for enhanced security.
- Personalisation – a vocabulary of phrases and messages can be configured to give logged in users a more personalized view of your site.
- Login authentication via third parties – Logins can now be approved via any third part authenticator. This can take the form of an LDAP query. Sitekit have an un-compiled LDAP web service available for downloads, which can be loaded easily and safely into an existing active directory environment.
