The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), PA Consulting and Sitekit have successfully launched the new NIHR Journals Library, which provides complete information about all NIHR-funded research projects throughout the life of each project.
The NIHR Journals Library comprises a suite of five open access peer-reviewed journals reporting results from a range of health research areas. With the addition of the library to the NIHR website, all stages of the research projects are available. This includes the initial stages, including protocols, before the final results are available.
By making information and evidence more accessible to the NHS and wider public health landscape, the library increases the impact of NIHR research. The library also helps to ensure that research results are more easily reproduced and that there is a transparent record of the research carried out.
Colin Bryce, Journals Library Futures Project Manager at NIHR commented, “The Journals Library technical architecture is hugely complex and the previous solution was considerably stretched and was unable to provide flexibility and stability and we struggled to maintain it.
The new solution works well with Sitekit CMS and the underlying data transfers from the Journals Library database (which in turn is fed from our Management Information Systems) operate smoothly and seamlessly.”
Campbell Grant, Sitekit CEO said, “This was a technically challenging project which went extremely well as it was delivered on time and on budget and went live on schedule. Sitekit’s delivery team formed an excellent working partnership with the client and worked seamlessly to deliver a successful project."
