Sitekit has been chosen to create the Person Held Records (PHRs) and online marketplace for an innovative health partnership in Liverpool named Mi (More Independent). Mi is led by NHS Liverpool Clinical Commissioning Group and provides technology, gadgets and services to support people to live more independently and safely in their own homes.

Mi is funded by the Technology Strategy Board and is part of the dallas (Delivering Assisted Living Lifestyles At Scale) programme. Mi is relevant to many people, including those with health needs, as well as to carers, families, socially isolated people -- anybody who needs a helping hand in life.

For people with long term conditions, Mi technology allows people to monitor their health at home with the support of health professionals. Mi also makes everyday life simpler with technology linked to a 24-hour helpline and gadgets to help people stay connected to family, friends and their communities. Unique to Liverpool is the Smarthouse, a mobile purpose-built house that provides an interactive demonstration of the types of gadgets and technology available. Mi Champions in the Liverpool community provide support and activities to help promote good health and wellbeing and reduce social isolation.

Mi marketplace & Person Held Records

After a successful first year, Mi Liverpool is now moving to the next stage: giving people access to an online marketplace where they can interact with an assortment of health services, devices and applications. These products and services are delivered by different companies who are ‘Mi approved’. The marketplace will give a significant boost to developers of innovative assistive apps and services - especially local SMEs - and will greatly empower Mi members, their family and friends and carers for years to come.

At the heart of the Mi platform are Person Held Records: people’s own online files that contain their health information. Through the use of a PHR, a person can access all the different services the platform offers, stored together in one account. It also allows them to give others (for instance, carers or family) access to their information and services (but only at the owner’s sole discretion – the PHR can never be accessed by anyone else without the owner’s explicit permission).

We will create both the marketplace and the PHRs, ensuring the solution’s flexibility and scalability. We were chosen for this project because of our knowledge of Microsoft Healthvault (Mi’s system of choice) and experience with similar portal systems. One of our flagship products, the eRedbook, is a PHR for children that fully integrates with HealthVault – allowing people to track their children’s health and development, saving their information to the world’s most secure data servers. We have also created the technical platform for Living it Up, a revolutionary Scottish project that has similar aims to Mi: enabling people to live longer, healthier and happier lives.
